At the turn of the Century there was a book floating around that was receiving rave reviews from the media. It took me a few months to get around to The Tipping Point, but once I picked it up it was rather challenging to put it down.

Dr. Evil in Baja?

I’m sure most of you have seen at least one Bond movie in your lifetime. Do you remember the incredible movie sets and locations where evil people attempted to devise and fulfil all sorts of diabolical schemes? guantanamo-in-baja.JPG Continue reading ‘Dr. Evil in Baja?’

Surf and Turf

Following a few brief stops for directions and one random army checkpoint, we found ourselves marveling at the amazing beauty of this remote Baja surf spot that beckons the die-hard and dedicated travelers to her protected harbor.checking-the-tides.JPG

Take one broken toilet, three broken sewer pipes, one broken hot-water-heater, three Ventana guys having disturbing dreams, one sick student to the Ensenada hospital, one Ventana student’s grandpa meeting Jesus, and mix them with 28 people from Arizona who just came to serve.  What do you get to witness?  Opened eyes, changed hearts, and a great big God who had it all under control.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted anything regarding Camp Ventana. Not that the groups haven’t been in our prayers and planning. I just haven’t had the time to keep the reader informed about Culiacan 2008 (click on link at the top of the page to learn more) and keep updates about Camp Ventana going as well. Now that the students and staff have returned, I can spend a few moments writing a few words and update a few items.

Update - March 2008

The rains have been deliciously received these past few weeks.

With drought-like conditions the past few summers, and the fields withering beneath the sun and Santa Ana winds (yes, we get those in Baja as well), the hidden beauty of Valle de Guadalupe has been revealed of late. The hills are carpeted with yellow and purple wildflowers, the vineyards outlined with ribbons of mustard flowers, and the orange trees are laden with fruit. It has been a wonderful spring for Baja.
