Otra vez! (One more time!)

Now that we’ve been in one spot for 3 ½ weeks, we’re packing up again to roll south to Mission Springs Christian Camps.  We anticipate being in Santa Cruz once more where we can serve the homeless and be part of a community of marginalized people.

This portion of our ministry is where a great deal of change happens in our students.  Most of them have never even said ‘hi’ to a homeless person, much less had a conversation with them.  This gets them outside of themselves and opens their eyes to a whole different world.  I love watching them shake in their boots on the first night and wonder how God is going to use them as they step outside of themselves and become available to those in need.  What a great reminder Proverbs 22:2 gives us: “Rich and poor have this in common; The Lord is the Maker of them all.”

We’ve had frequent flier miles for years, but all these autumn trips make us wish there frequent driver miles, too.  I’m not sure how much longer our family can keep up this schedule, but we’re still holding on.  We appreciate your prayers as we pack up and hit the pavement (otra vez) on October 4th.
