We receive many requests regarding what we need both for our ministry and Baja campus. Below are some categories that will better direct your desire to give:
1) Blanket distribution in Porvenir for winter season:
- Children sized blankets for orphanages
- Twin and Queen sized blankets for home use (warmer the better)
2) Install new roofing and termite control for staff housing (see photo above)
- We had a mobile home recently donated from a wonderful family living in Murrieta, California. (Please don’t ask how we got it to our property in Porvenir … it would require a lengthy understanding of diplomatic relations) It was a great gift but it needs a new roof before the winter rains. The total cost will be $1500 and even less if we could get a team to volunteer their expertise and labor.
- We recenlty discovered termite challenges with this home. We’ve been given an estimate for $500 to tent and apply chemicals to treat.
3) Socks for children:
- With the average Porvenir family earning between $90-100 per week providing new socks would bring warm smiles to both parents and children alike. We will take all sock sizes and will distribute the socks through the local church we regularly attend to assure appropriate distribution to needy families.
4) Missionary Home Makeover:
- The Directors of Ventana Ministries (a family of four who live full-time in Porvenir) have recently purchased a newer home in the area. It was solidly built with ample room for their two boys to play in the yard. Various teams have supplied the energy and resources to complete the outside, but the inside needs serious attention to make it live-able.
- The entire home needs cabinetry (kitchen, restrooms, and hallway storage), tile throughout the home, and instillation of tub and showers.
5) Construction Teams (volunteer groups) to assist with church building:
- Carpentry
- Tile
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Painting
