Prayer at Casa Gabriel

Class of 2009 praying for children at Casa Gabriel.

November 2009

  • Every November our ministy serves with the local church and Olive Tree Ministries to motivate Latin Americans toward global missions. You can view a little bit of our opening ceremoniesand some of the Ventana folks giving a try at using Spanish.  Pray for fruit from the tremendous efforts by the local church.

  • Pray for the continued transformation of our students Daniel, Connor, Elizabeth and Rachel.

  • Pray that many families would respond by giving toward our refurbished i-Mac fund.

  • Pray that students would return home for Thanksgiving/Christmas break with tremendous resolve to be salt and light to their many friends who are returning home from college.

  • Pray that our Regional Recruiters (prior students) we’ve asked to help share the ministry of Ventana in their local churches would prompt students to apply for next year.

  • And finally, pray for Doug and Carrie that they would rest and seek refreshment during these six weeks without students.

October 2009

 • Our four students (see below) would covet your prayers as they transition from home to living in a foreign country.
• Pray for Doug and Carrie as they connect and challenge the students in their care.
• Lift up the students and their five weeks in Tijuana while they attend a like-minded ministry that offers intensive language immersion.
• Please pray for our efforts in finding regional recruiters that will help us share Ventana with youth groups from Washington to Arizona. We are currently in conversations with youth pastors and prior students who can help us in our recruiting for next year.
• A new bold step in our recruiting efforts are to begin asking local colleges (Cal Baptist, Point Loma, San Diego Chrisitan College) if they would consider our campus and program as a viable study-abroad option for their students.
• Our oldest son (Micah) has started 3rd grade at our local elementary school in Porvenir. Our decision to remain in Porvenir has been recently validated as we see him standing with a group of peers talking in playing during the lunch hour and he was recently invited to a boys birthday. This is a HUGE step in the right direction. We are thankful.

September 2009

1. Please take a moment and give thanks for His continued provision in this ministry and the four students who have arrived.

  • Connor from Phoenix, Az

  • Daniel from Bakersfield, Ca

  • Elizabeth from Temecula, Ca

  • Rachel from Scottsdale, Az

2. We ask that God would fruitfully bless our recruiting efforts as we begin contacting new student leads and youth pastors.
3. And finally, please pray for our stamina, spiritual insight, and family boundaries as we lead and care for students without any support staff.  There’s no doubt it will be a tiring year, but we already sense His peaceful presence.
